The Schengen visa is a “visitor visa”. It is issued to citizens of countries that are required to obtain a visa before entering Europe. The purpose of the visit must be leisure, tourism or business. The insurance must provide coverage for emergency medical treatment as well as repatriation at a minimum for EUR 30,000, USD 50.000, CHF 50.000. If you do not have the required insurance, you will be denied a visa on the grounds of Art. 10 of the Swiss Federal Ordinance of Entry and Visas and Art. 15 of the Visacodex.
