International Student Health Insurance Spain


This policy offers comprehensive coverage, including unlimited surgical and medical hospitalization, ambulance services, emergency medical care at home, as well as emergency care abroad. It also covers the repatriation of mortal remains, in line with the General Insurance Conditions.


This insurance meets the Spanish visa requirements, boasting no co-payments, no deductibles, and no waiting periods. Furthermore, policyholders are entitled to benefits immediately upon enrollment.


The insurance covers the full extent of insured medical costs, provided that services are sought through the approved medical directory.

  • How can I change my address?

    Update your address by logging into your customer account or through the MySwisscare app, available on iOS and Android.

  • Will I received a physical insurance card?

    Since 2019, Swisscare has chosen not to distribute physical insurance cards. Instead, you can easily access your Digital Insurance Card by downloading the MySwisscare app on both iOS and Android. Once installed, you'll find your card within your policy account.

  • What is included?

    This insurance is tailored to the visa requirements for Spain, with full medical insurance coverage, no co-payments, no deductible, no waiting periods, immediate entitlements, and repatriation coverage included.

     

    It allows free choice of the doctors or centers within the arranged medical directory of Clínicum. The medical coverage includes primary medicine, specialist visitation, emergencies locally and abroad, diagnostic tests, treatments, hospitalization, and surgical interventions.

     

  • What is a deductible?

    The insurance deductible is a fixed sum at the expense of the insured in the case of a claim covered by the chosen insurance policy. The general insurance conditions define the amount and the scope of application. The deductible can be calculated per contractual year, per calendar year, for a specific duration, for a particular treatment, or for a specific insurance cover. 


    The International Student Health Insurance Spain product has No Deductible.

  • Can I go to any medical center and to any specialist I wish?

    You can have a free choice of doctors and medical centers within the arranged medical directory of Clinicum. The arranged medical directory is the list of medical service providers in Clinicum’s medical network.

    If a doctor prescribes a test, the medical prescription must always come from a specialist in the Clínicum Medical Directory. You will have to send this prescription to Clinicum through the email [email protected].

  • What shall I do if I want to visit a doctor or a hospital?

    If you require medical treatments while in Spain and you can simply click on the appropriate link provided below according to your place of residency. Within the provided links, you can search for a medical institution and make an appointment. You could present your digital or physical insurance card to the medical institutions.

    In case of an emergency, you contact the 24/7 URGENCIES. Emergency means a case in which the insured party cannot wait for the normal services of the insurer if they are to receive the appropriate level of care.

  • What should I do in case of a medical emergency outside Spain?

    Medical emergencies and illnesses occurring during the trip are covered anywhere in the world up to a limit of 15.000 € and during the first 90 days since the beginning of the trip. If you require medical attention in these cases, you should call

  • How long does it take until I receive my insurance policy?

    If you pay for your insurance by credit card, you can download your insurance policy immediately from your online account.

     

  • How do I cancel my insurance?

    You can cancel your insurance before the start date of coverage. Termination with a refund is only possible in the following circumstances:

     

    Cancellation accepted with a full refund

     

    If the embassy or consulate refuses your visa, you can request the cancellation of your insurance by sending the official refusal letter of the embassy to us. Once your request has been verified, we will refund you by the same method initially used for the payment.

     

    Cancellation after the start date, no refund possible

     

    If the insurance coverage begins, then it is no longer possible to cancel and obtain a refund without an official visa refusal. In this case, the entire insurance premium is due and must be paid.

     

    Renewal / Termination

    The policyholder can oppose the contract renewal through a written email notification at least one month before the contract expiration date. 

     

  • Does the International Student Insurance Spain (ISIES) cover Covid-19?

    Yes, Covid-19 medical coverage is included in the current plan.
